Quick Launch – Privacy Policy
Last updated: 13 September 2026
Quick Launch is an app launcher for Android developed by Ahmed Hussein ("we"). This policy explains what the app does with data. The short version: everything stays on your device, and nothing is transmitted anywhere.
Data the app processes on your device
- List of installed apps. Needed to search and launch apps. Read from Android each time the app opens; a copy is cached on the device so results appear instantly.
- Your launch history inside Quick Launch. Which apps you open through Quick Launch and when, stored locally to rank frequently used apps higher.
- App usage statistics (optional). If you grant Usage access, the app reads Android's usage statistics for the last 14 days to order your most used apps. This data is read on the device and stored only as a per-app ranking score in the local cache.
- Keyboard shortcut (optional). If you enable the Quick Launch keyboard shortcut accessibility service, the app is notified when Ctrl+Space is pressed on a physical keyboard so it can open. The service only filters that key combination. It does not read screen content, observe your activity in other apps, or receive any other accessibility events, and nothing is stored.
- Clipboard (link detection). While the search card is open and focused, the app checks whether the clipboard holds a web link so it can offer an "Open link" row. The check happens on the device, reads the clipboard at most once per copied item, and nothing is stored. Clipboard content marked sensitive by Android (such as passwords) is never read. Android 12 and newer shows its own "pasted from your clipboard" notice when this happens.
- App icons. Cached on the device for fast display.
What the app does not do
- It has no internet permission and never transmits data.
- It contains no analytics, advertising, tracking, or crash-reporting SDKs.
- It does not collect personal information, account details, contacts, location, or content from other apps.
Permissions
- Display over other apps (optional): shows the search card as an overlay so it appears instantly.
- Usage access (optional): enables the "most used apps" ordering described above.
- Accessibility service (optional): enables the global Ctrl+Space shortcut described above.
- Query installed apps: required for any app launcher to list what is installed.
Data deletion
All data is stored in the app's private storage. Uninstalling Quick Launch, or clearing its storage in Android Settings, deletes everything.
Children
Quick Launch is a general-purpose utility, not directed at children, and collects no personal data from anyone.
